Our Songwriters

For several years, Cedarville University students have been writing songs for congregational worship. Some of our songwriters are now alumni and continue to write new music. Whether they’re studying worship or songwriting, these students are passionate about lifting the Lord’s name high through original songs designed for the Church.

Q: What inspires your writing?

A: “I write songs to glorify Jesus and inspire joy and confidence in those who turn to Him.”

Q: What did you learn as a songwriting student?

A: “The songwriting courses provided amazing opportunities to co-write and learn from both my peers and industry professionals. They also provided industry connections that I’ve worked with and kept since graduating CU.”

Q: What are you doing now with your writing?

A: “I am leading worship at my church in Cincinnati, writing/producing/touring with TAKEHEART, and playing with TrueSong.”

Worship Resident at Liberty Live Church in Virginia

Q: What inspires your writing?

A: “Most of the songs I write come from my personal time with the Lord. I write songs to express what’s He’s teaching me and how He’s working in my heart. I also believe the church needs new songs to sing!”

Q: What did you learn as a songwriting student?

A: “The songwriting courses at Cedarville gave me experience co-writing and taught me how to use constructive criticism to improve as a writer.”

Q: What are you doing now with your writing?

A: “I am currently writing with Liberty Live Worship on their next album! My heart is for the local church and I want to serve it in full time worship ministry. ”

Q: What inspires your writing?

A: “Colossians 3 tells us that when we sing together, the word of Christ dwells among us, as we teach and admonish one another. I love to write songs that the Church sings with and to one another; songs that are rich with good theology and display the livable reality of the gospel.”

Q: What did you learn as a songwriting student?

A: “During the songwriting courses, I refined my skills, particularly in writing singable and memorable melodies. And I learned to love cowriting!”

Q: What are you doing now with your writing?

A: “My next album, with Steeple Worship, will be released this summer.”
